Walter was born on his parent’s small rental dairy farm in Barneveld Holland. The family moved to Québec’s beautiful Eastern Townships in 1957 where his parents could fulfill their dream of owning their own dairy farm. After receiving his DVM from l’Université de Montréal’s Saint Hyacinthe campus in 1979, Walter joined two established veterinarians to form Bureau Vétérinaire de Richmond. At first it was a mixed large and small animal practice.
Today it is a dynamic eleven person exclusively farm animal practice. Walter was very active in the AMVPQ, Québec’s large animal veterinary association acting as vice president for several years and he served as president in the embryonic stages of DSAHR, the association’s veterinary software company. He was also Québec’s first delegate to CABV/ACVB. Walter will retire from on farm veterinary practice on December 31 st 2019 and serve as a consultant for Solvet. He and Dominique’s pastimes include ornithology, nature walks and travelling.
